We woke up in Middelsborough, and realized that we missed the coach the Edinburgh. Good job idiots! After a quick peanut butter and jam sandwich we hurried down to the coach station, and the kind lady said that there were no more coached to Edinburgh, and we were all like what the fuck, and asked her please to check if there was any way we could make it to Edinburgh, and apparently she had been lying to us the whole time, cause there actually was a coach leaving to Newcastle, and in Newcastle there would be a coach going to Edinburgh. Great! We did a little dance in front off the lady out of sheer happiness, and then I bought Toby a coffee and shared a cookie with him. Good times. The ride to Newcastle was really sweet. On the other hand the ride to Edinburgh from Newcastle had a pretty rough start. Seemed like everyone was in a good mood and all, but these two really drunk dudes wanted to get on the coach, but the driver wouldn’t let them cause they were very drunk. Then all of a sudden one of these dudes just lost it and was gonna kill the driver. Seiously. He shouted ‘I’ll kill ya, you facking bitch!’. Toby and I agreed that maybe that was a bit too extreme. He could’ve maybe just said ‘you bitch’ or ‘I’ll kill ya’, but combining the two is just brutal. And it’s not like the driver was a bitch at all, he was a great guy.
We arrived at the venue in Edinburgh and were greeted by a tall, kind man named Matthew Young. He immediately started buying us drinks, and there was generally a really good feel to the venue and people there. Toby played a gorgeous set. The crowd was really responsive and I know we both enjoyed playing this gig very much. I fucked up in Funemployment, but I didn’t care. We watched a local band called The Last Battle who were very good. Matthew took us back to his apartment after the gig, and what a place. A huge beautiful apartment, with beds for Toby and me. It was almost midnight but he insisted on making us a delicious meal and had both juice and beer for us in the fridge. We had a great chat about copyright and creative commons, and all in all it was just a marvelous night. After listening to some music, eating and hanging, Toby and I went to bed with our tummies full and a restored faith in humanity. Good night.
