Dad Rocks! - Weapons

Danish musician Snaevar Albertsson is re-thinking folk from his Aarhus apartment. There’s no existential anguish in his lyrics. Nor are there blustery swipes at beginners’ chords on an acoustic guitar. Instead, his songs are string-splashed slabs of wry humour, baritone vocals and scatter-fingered Kinsella-isms. Whether marveling at web 2.0 or fretting over a teen knife-crime pandemic, wit and charm abound.

Snaevar spent the last few years sharpening his songwriting prowess in eclectic noise-pop foursome Mimas before fathering his solo project, Dad Rocks. It was with Mimas that we at Galapagos first met the man – a gin-soaked evening in 2007

When Snaevar returned to Brighton in May to play The Great Escape festival, we badgered him into performing for us in our basement. Backed by the wondrous Iris, Asgar and Nickolaj, he played us two tracks from forthcoming debut album, Mount Modern.
